Gem Story

In Greek myth, Aphrodite was caught by a thorn when she rushed to help her wounded lover, Adonis. Blood from both lovers dripped onto a crystal, staining it pink as a lasting symbol of their love.

Rose quartz, a variety of the quartz gemstones, gets its name from its delicate pink color, which ranges from very light (almost white) to medium-dark.

From earliest recorded times, people believed in the magical powers of Rose Quartz. The Romans used rose quartz as a seal to signify ownership, and Egyptians believed the stone could prevent aging. In the Middle Ages, medical practitioners used quartz in their healing potions.

Known as the stone of Universal love, Rose Quartz balance emotions and heals anger and disappointment. It restores trust and harmony in relationships, encouraging unconditional love.  Rose Quartz purifies and opens the heart at all levels to promote love, self-love, friendship, and feelings of peace.

Wearing rose quartz is thought to attract true love.

Rose Quartz is the birthstone for January.
