Gem Story

This amazing blue and green tourmaline was discovered in Paraiba, Brazil in 1987. The luminosity comes from the interaction of manganese and copper, present in these gems. Depending on the proportions of these two elements, these come in bluish green, greenish blue and the famous neon blue color. To put their rarity into perspective, there is only one Paraiba tourmaline minded for every 10,000 diamonds.

One of the reasons for their high prices comes from the fact that the geological conditions in which this gem is found represent a great challenge for professionals in the area; the extraction needs to be done manually, using tools similar to sledgehammers. Most of the minerals found are very small. Quality stones in medium and large sizes are extremely rare.

Originally found in the now-depleted mines of Paraiba, Brazil, these gems currently come from Mozambique, which show the same chemical composition and amazing colors.

Paraiba tourmaline strengthens intuition, awakens clairvoyance, calms the body, and helps strengthen the immune system.

These gems are known to crystalize dreams, build brighter relationships, and give vitality.

Paraiba Tourmaline is the birthstone for October.
