Juliana Domenico (’Ico’)

Ico & the Bird Fine Jewelry was founded by designer Juliana Domenico (’Ico’) Carr and inspired by her world travels, searching for the most beautiful and unique gemstones to incorporate into her designs.

Gems have always been a passion for the designer. She spent the first five years of her life in Brazil, a country known for some of the worlds’ most striking and rare stones. Her earliest memories were of playing with giant loose aquamarines in her mother’s jewelry box and arranging them into designs.

Juliana received a scholarship to George Balanchine’s School of American Ballet at ten and later danced with the Washington Ballet. She also had a busy acting career, working in film, television and on Broadway.

An accomplished classical pianist, Juliana is passionate about using her hands to create each piece of jewelry. Working primarily in 22k matte gold and with hand-picked gemstones, she uses ancient techniques to create singular pieces that will be treasured for generations.

Juliana holds an undergraduate degree from The George Washington University in Fine Arts. She also holds a Graduate Gemology (GG) degree from The Gemological Institute of America and Graduate Fine Arts at UCLA.
