Gem Story

Amethyst is an extraordinarily beautiful purple gemstone and can be found in all shades of purple, from pale lilac to a deep, intense violet.

Amethyst served royalty throughout history and was considered in ancient times to be a precious stone, worth as much as diamonds, rubies, and emeralds.  As the stone of St. Valentine, it signifies faithful love, passion, creativity, and spirituality.  Saint Valentine was thought to wear a ring set with an antique Amethyst carved with an image of Cupid.

It was believed to prevent intoxication; ‘Amethystos’ means “not drunk” in ancient Greek.   Considered a stone of spirituality, amethyst is known to help with meditating and prayer.
